Before the Break captures the suspended moment just prior to impact when beauty, momentum, and belief are at their peak.

Painted in luminous layers of oil, the wave rises in a state of almost-perfect balance: powerful, elegant, and inevitable. The water glows with that rare turquoise found only in moments of ideal conditions when everything appears aligned. From within the swell, there is no warning. Only motion, trust, and forward pull.

This diptych was begun during a season of profound anticipation and completed years later, allowing time itself to shape the work. The result is not a depiction of collapse, but of the fragile instant before it the threshold where promise feels permanent and the future appears secure.

Before the Break is a meditation on momentum, perception, and the quiet confidence that precedes transformation. It invites the viewer to linger in that charged stillness the breath held just before the wave remembers what it must become.
